Midge Pippel
About the Artist:
I have always loved to draw and paint, however, until my retirement from teaching mathematics at Utica College of Syracuse University in 2002, I was not able to devote time to art. Since retirement, and moving to Longboat Key with my husband, I have been like "a kid in a candy shop" working with a variety of media including watercolor, pastels, pen & ink, and colored pencils. I have also been able to indulge my love of photography.

I have taken workshops and classes with Ann Abgott who has had a great influence on my work contributing generously with her time, enthusiasm and know-how. I have also participated in workshops and/or classes by Zoltan Szabo, Diane Maxey, Tom Jones, Carlton Plummer and Ralph Murray (watercolor), Lee McVey, Nancy Goff (pastel), Janine Hoffman (colored pencil), and Ralph Murray again, for pen & ink.

In New York State I have exhibited my work at the Kirkland Art Center, the Rome Art Center, the Munson Williams Proctor Art Institute, and the Barrett Art Gallery in Utica. In Florida, I have had work shown at Art Center Manatee, Longboat Key Center for the Arts, Artists' League of Anna Maria Island, Cortez Maritime Museum and Art Center in Punta Gorda. I have also shown my photography at the Munson Williams Art Institute and Selby Botanical Garden's photography exhibition. I have been fortunate to win some prizes for both art and photography at these exhibitions.

I belong to FSWS (signature member), FWS, CNYWS.
