Featured Artists of the Month
Dee Pastorius and Jody Tschida
This mother/daughter team will be featured in
Gallery Front Windows during April.
Dee and Jody are both displaying members at the art gallery, both are from St Paul Minnesota. They live in Bradenton, and first started coming to the island in the late 60’s.
Dee Pastorius is an award-winning watercolor artist. She loves painting Florida flora and fauna. Her paintings include beach scenes, children on the beach, island landmarks, boats and floats, and angelic statues.
In the last two years Dee has started losing her eyesight, she is totally blind in one eye which has affected her depth of field. She has continued to paint and has tried new mediums such as alcohol inks and resins, but she is persistent with her true love, watercolor.
Jody Tschida pronounced “Cheetah” hence the art signature of “j. Cheetah” is an acrylic and resin artist. She loves creating big colorful resin pieces on reinforced board/frame that she makes herself. She also loves painting Flamingos and mermaids.
Jody is a professional henna artist, using all-natural organic henna paste, specializing in freehand designs. Her clients love being adorned with her art. During spring break, mid-March thru mid-April, Jody will be set up offering henna at the Artist Guild of AMI. Jody will be set up outside of the Guild on the sidewalk.
Dee will be joining Jody at the Guild Tuesday April 6th thru Friday April 9th, 4:00pm to 6:30pm. Stop by to meet the mother daughter artist team and to talk art with them, and to see Jody in action slinging henna paste.
